Joy to the World

Joy to the World was the theme of the Aboite Christian School's Christmas program on December 16. About 75 people attended the program and many stayed for a spaghetti supper afterward.

Kathy and Mike Burns, Anita and Kevin Capicotte, and Matt and Sara Ensign did the decorating and the gym was beautiful.

After a program introduction by co-coordinator Sara Ensign and an opening prayer by Keven Wynder, some Christmas carols sung by Amaris Tatum and a reading of "'Twas the Night
Before Jesus Came" by Roy Ursin, many of the children got involved.

Music was provided by Nicole Spady, Kristy Mitchell, Allison Groves,
Justin Spady, Connor

Spady, Justin and Nick Smith, Miranda and Provost
Kolde, and Kayla and Lesley Smith.

Nicole, Justin and Connor Spady each did readings, as did Sarah Smith.
Justin Smith recited from John 3:3-16 and Ehren Wynder recited a poem.

Jeff Smith also told "A Christmas Story."

At the end of the program, Kathy Burns provided a school update. She reports the painting of the inside of the school is progressing well.  Jeff and Ginny Smith and Gary Cauley have almost completed the painting in the auditorium. In the spring, plans are to paint the outside and put on a new roof.  Currently, the academic structure is under review and the school is looking for at least one, and

possibly two, teachers for next year.

Following a benediction by Pastor Mercado, most of the audience took part in a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Kathy Burns, Wendy Cousins and Bev Johnson provided desserts.  School paraphernalia was also for sale.  Sara said she was sure everyone must have been really hungry because they could smell the dinner cooking during the program!  She thanks Laurie Groves, Marcia Klinker and Linda Mitchell for preparing the dinner.

"I really appreciate all the people that came out," Kathy said.

The program "went really well," Sara said. "Lots of people were there and everyone had a real good time!"
